Questions

What people ask, answered plainly

The questions we are actually asked here, answered plainly. If yours is not on the list, send it with your enquiry.

01

How bad is parking in SW6?

Controlled throughout and genuinely tight. The Peterborough and Munster grids are narrow once cars are parked both sides, there is almost no off-street standing on the terraced stock, and match days at the Bridge close several routes. We check your bays at survey and tell you whether a suspension is worth applying for.

02

Do the terraces have lower ground floors?

A great many do, and they are the single most underestimated part of a Fulham move. A lower ground or basement adds a floor, a narrow stair and usually more storage than anyone admits to. We survey it properly rather than counting bedrooms.

03

Do you handle mansion flats?

Regularly — the main roads and the riverside have a good deal of the stock. The building's procedure matters as much as its physics: a porter to tell, a goods lift to book, sometimes permitted hours and occasionally required communal floor covering.

04

What about high-value contents?

Common on this stock. Veneer and inlay, marble tops, gilt, large mirrors and framed work get cases or crates rather than blankets, identified at survey and declared so cover is confirmed in writing before you book.

05

Can you store things between places?

Yes — wrapped, listed on an inventory and racked indoors, collected as part of the same move. SW6 chains run long and a lot of the period stock wants work before anyone moves in.

06

How do you work out a price?

Volume, access at both ends, how much packing you want done, and distance. In Fulham the access line is a real one — a four-floor terrace with a lower ground and no standing is genuinely more work than a Sands End flat with a loading bay.

07

Does a survey cost anything?

No, and there is no obligation. For the newer riverside stock a video call usually does it; for the period terraces and mansion blocks we would rather see the stair and the loading point ourselves.

08

Do match days affect a move?

They can. Home fixtures at the Bridge close and congest several routes through SW6 for much of a day, and nearby parking disappears. We check the fixture list against your date at survey and shift the loading window where it helps.

09

Do you move period property?

Constantly. Most of SW6 is Victorian and Edwardian, much of it in a conservation area. Lime plaster marks, original boards scuff, and period joinery does not forgive a corner taken at speed.

10

Do you move pianos?

Uprights routinely, with the correct board and straps. Grands we assess first, and out of a mansion flat with a lift that will not take one we would rather bring in a piano specialist.

11

Are my things insured?

Goods in transit and storage cover are in place, with the usual conditions around owner-packed cartons and items of unusual value. Declare anything genuinely valuable at survey and we will confirm in writing what applies.

12

Do you pack, or is that on me?

Either, or a split. The usual arrangement is that you do the books, the clothes and the wardrobes and we do the kitchen, the glass, the pictures and anything old.

13

What if my completion slips?

The load stays on the vehicle or goes into store overnight rather than onto a pavement. We tell you plainly what that means for the booking rather than sending a surprise invoice.

14

Is the riverside stock different?

Yes — larger houses towards Hurlingham with more volume and frequently more fragile contents, plus newer apartment development along Fulham Reach with proper loading bays. Two ends of the same road behaving nothing alike.

15

Do you cover Chelsea, Putney or Hammersmith?

The edges only. Hammersmith has its own coverage on our network and we do not poach it; Chelsea and Putney are other patches. For London-wide moves our pan-London sister sites are the better fit.

16

Do you do office moves?

Small commercial — offices and practices along the Fulham Road and New Kings Road, studios and small units. Out of hours usually makes most sense.

17

Can you collect from two addresses?

Yes. Two households merging, or a flat plus a storage unit emptied on the way. Mention both so the route and timing are costed from the start.

18

How far ahead should I book?

As soon as you have a date, even provisional. Fridays and month-ends go first, and anything needing a bay suspension or a lift booking wants more notice than the move itself.

19

Who handles the customs paperwork on a European move?

We do, built from the survey inventory. Since the UK left the EU a household move needs a proper packing list and the destination country's transfer-of-residence process, and each of the four differs.

Still not answered?

Put it in the notes on the quote form. Services covers what we do, coverage covers where, and European removals covers moves that leave the country.

Moving in Fulham?

Send both addresses and a sense of what is coming. We survey — at the property or by video — then put a clear quote in writing, with what is included and what would change it.
